Kinaxis and Blume Global to Empower Better Responses to Supply Chain Transportation Disruptions

Partnership enables the agility needed to better orchestrate unified supply chain planning and transportation execution

Hyderabad, June 13th, 2022Kinaxis® Inc. (TSX:KXS), the authority in driving agility for fast, confident decision-making in an unpredictable world, and Blume Global, the only multimodal supply chain orchestration platform uniting end-to-end visibility, supplier management and logistics execution, today announced a partnership that will connect Blume Global’s logistics visibility and transportation management system (TMS) with the Kinaxis RapidResponse® concurrent planning platform. The result will be better alignment between supply chain planning and execution, enabling companies to quickly remedy, or even avoid, freight transportation disruptions.

Freight transportation disruptions are now one of the most common, and most costly, forms of supply chain interruption. Organizations need new levels of supply chain agility across planning and execution to understand the business-wide impact of a shipment delay and be able to act in time to mitigate the risks to cost and customer service. By combining Kinaxis’ unique concurrent planning technique with Blume Global’s TMS shipment data, companies will be able to dynamically generate new plans to quickly get shipments back on track and ultimately have improved supply chain resiliency.

“For nearly three years, the supply chain industry has been defined by uncertainty. That is likely to continue. While major disruptions used to occur every few years, we are now facing significant events annually – or even more frequently,” according to Pervinder Johar, CEO of Blume Global. “Our partnership with Kinaxis will give customers around the world access to robust, innovative logistics planning and execution solutions so they can create agile processes that adapt quickly to even the most challenging circumstances.”

As part of the new combined offering, Blume Global will synchronize core TMS shipment data to RapidResponse, providing real-time exception-based alerts that ensure customers focus on business-critical shipments and updated ETAs for shipments that exceed defined tolerance levels. From there, customers will be able to generate and execute alternate shipment plans with a full understanding of how the alternate plan will impact key performance measures.

“The intersection point between supply chain planning and execution has never been more critical. When a disruption happens, it’s not enough just to be able to create a new plan quickly. Companies must be able to execute quickly as well,” said John Sicard, CEO of Kinaxis. “Our new offering with Blume Global helps companies do just that by delivering concurrent planning and execution, providing a new level of supply chain agility.”

Blume Global joins the growing Kinaxis ecosystem of Solution Extension partners. These partners increase the value customers gain from RapidResponse by delivering digital inputs and developing domain-specific applications that leverage the power of concurrent planning and extend the capabilities of the widely-trusted planning platform.

adidas reiterates its commitment to end plastic waste with Run For the Oceans 2022

Hyderabad, June 6, 2022- adidas India united runners from all over Mumbai as over 1500 enthusiasts participated in the 5th edition of the brand’s sustainability campaign "Run For The Oceans" in Mumbai.  adidas India team was joined by renowned public figures and media personalities, including Anusha Dandekar, Saiyami Kher, Karanveer Bohra, Teejay Sidhu, Aditya Seal, Akash Gaurav and Angad Bedi among others for the run. The run involved a three-kilometre lap around Versova Beach, Mumbai. Post the run, the runners participated in a beach cleanup drive on Versova Beach. For every 10 minutes of running, recorded by participants via the adidas Runtastic app, Parley vowed to clean up the equivalent weight of one plastic bottle from beaches, remote islands, and coastlines before it reaches the ocean (with this year’s target to collect a maximum of 250,000kg).

While RFTO is a global movement, in India, adidas has given momentum to the movement by associating with Adv. Afroz Shah, the UN Champion of Earth 2016. adidas India has been supporting Shah in his endeavor to remove plastic from beaches and oceans since 2018. His purposeful initiatives have generated huge awareness and a positive impact among locals with the vision to make oceans plastic-free in India and globally. The most successful initiatives include conserving the mangroves, running ground action workshops to prevent litter and promoting the segregation of plastic waste. Above all, his efforts encouraged adopting and acting on the ideology of a circular economy.

This year’s RFTO 2022 had several engaging features like an innovative interactive education zone explaining why there is an urgent need to save marine life from plastic pollution. The event concluded with all runners being bestowed with special RFTO medals, having an ounce of clean sand from Versova beach.

Sharing his thoughts on this mission Sunil Gupta, Senior Director, adidas India said, "At adidas, our commitment to sustainability is holistic and deeply embedded into how we do business. Run for the Oceans is at the forefront of this commitment to help “End Plastic Waste”. Since the beginning of this initiative, adidas has made more than 50 million pairs of shoes with Parley Ocean Plastic and close to 18 million pairs in 2021 alone. Currently running in its fifth year, this campaign shows the brand's commitment to bringing communities together to create a more sustainable world, because sustainability is a team sport.”

adidas has been collaborating with the environmental organization, Parley for the Oceans since 2015, to focus on waste prevention: plastic waste from beaches, coastal regions and in the oceans. The sporting goods manufacturer has been using the collected plastic through a technically advanced recycling process to produce yarn for shoe uppers and apparel. Over the years, the brand’s product range has gradually expanded, from shoes and football jerseys to swimwear, other sports apparel and more. In addition, the brand is also focusing on increasing the proportion of recycled materials in the entire product range with every passing year. Its goal is to use only recycled polyester from 2024 onwards.

IIM Ahmedabad launches India’s first ever Agri Land Price Index in collaboration with SFarmsIndia

IIM Ahmedabad launches India’s first ever Agri Land Price Index in collaboration with SFarmsIndia

~ Agri Land Price Index will be hosted by the Misra Centre for Financial Markets and Economy at IIMA ~

June 02, 2022: The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), a premier global management institute, in collaboration with India’s first agri-land marketplace SFarmsIndia has announced the launch of IIMA-SFarmsIndia Agri Land Price Index (ISALPI), a first-of-its-kind land price index that will record and present ‘quality controlled’ data of prices of agricultural land across the country. This index is particularly important in terms of benchmarking land prices in rural and semi-urban areas. In such a case, the index will serve as a reliable source that will signal potential conversion of agricultural land into real estate.

Unlike financial assets, developing an index for land parcels is a complex task because of visible price differences in different listings caused by a slew of factors including the market wide supply-demand factors. The method adopted for the preparation of ISALPI addresses these disparities and ensures accuracy. ISALPI has been put together using the regression-based hedonic pricing methods.

The Misra Centre for Financial Markets and Economy at IIMA, under which this index is being launched, will be hosting this index on its official website. The Centre is committed to creating and disseminating new knowledge and insights about various facets of the Indian financial markets and economy. This index will be hosted as a part of the Centre’s website: https://www.iima.ac.in/web/areas-and-centres/research-centres/misra-centre-for-financial-markets-and-economy/isalpi

Speaking of the relevance of the index in the current scenario, Professor Errol D’Souza, Director IIMA said: “With just over 200 million hectares, India houses just 2% of the world’s cropped land; but feeds over 15% of the world’s population. Recently, we have witnessed a surge in entrepreneurial interest in Agri land and allied professions: From agricultural engineering to precision farming, from food technology to supply chain management and green energy. We believe it is the right time to launch such an index for India. With ISALPI, we hope to build better data sources for all stakeholders to be able to take informed decisions at national as well as regional levels and support the agribusiness activities.”

Currently ISALPI is based on land listing data from six states: Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh. With the arrival of more data from other states of India, the index could be more valuable in two ways. First, it will offer superior representation of the national context. Second, it will offer a more granular index at regional levels.

In addition, this index can greatly benefit stakeholders across the spectrum including policy makers, local governments, environmentalists, investors, real estate developers and financiers. For instance, the index can be used by local governments to compensate the people who lose land for highway expansion.

Further elaborating on the utility of the index, project lead and associate professor of Real Estate Finance at IIMA, Dr Prashant Das, said, “Investors could use this information to assess the historical risk and return in the past and predict these metrics for the future to decide on their investment positions. Fund managers and producers could use this information to broadly benchmark their own performance[1]. Financiers and insurers could use this information to assess the risk in the company related to the asset class reflected in the index. Researchers could use this information to study how economic events and factors are associated with price movements in a specific asset class. Policy makers (e.g. the Central bank) may use it to modulate their policies.”

Mr. Kamesh Mupparaju, the CEO of SFarmsIndia said: “SFarmsIndia has a strong focus on data warehousing and mining aimed at bringing cutting-edge agri-realty domain specific AI capabilities to the market. The collaboration with IIMA to develop an Agri-land price index (ISALPI) is an important step in this regard.”

The Misra Centre for Financial Markets and Economy at IIMA is a Centre of Excellence, conducting research on the Financial Markets and Economy in India. This Centre is expected to provide impetus for focused research and teaching related to financial markets within the overall economic framework.

[1] However, we recommend avoiding using this index for performance appraisal of such managers. See the FAQ section for more details.
